As a Member State to the United Nations (UN), South Africa is required to enforce and implement the sanctions measures as listed under Chapter VII, Article 41 of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). There is currently no legislation in South Africa that has been passed to give effect to UNSC sanctions, but the country is implementing required measures against listed individuals and entities. Although, South Africa does not have its own sanctions list, it implements the UNSC sanctions list as it is.

Industry must take note of the following UNSC Resolutions with regard to non-proliferation sanctions as listed under Chapter 7 of the United Nations Charter:
